MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE (MIC) plays a dynamic role in the development of the industrial sector in Sri Lanka. It is the key Ministry responsible for promoting industrial development in the country within the wide policy framework spelt out by the government. MIC, being the policy formulating entity for the industrial sector, has taken several initiatives to increase the industrial sector performance. MIC has several plans to strengthen the Plastics and Rubber industry with a special focus to facilitate the exports of these products from Sri Lanka. With these initiatives on hand, MIC has pledged its support for the 2nd edition of SRI LANKA PLAST, which also has RUBEXPO as its concurrent show at Colombo.

SRI LANKA EXPORT DEVELOPMENT BOARD (EDB), Sri Lanka’s apex organization for the promotion and development of exports, was established in 1979. EDB is the executive arm of the Export Development Council of Ministers, which is the policy-making body of the EDB. It is headed by H.E. the President of Sri Lanka. EDB operates with the vision to make Sri Lanka to be the most sought-after destination for global sourcing with special focus on Rubber and Plastics, and hence pledges its support to SRI LANKA PLAST and RUBEXPO.

CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF PLASTICS ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY – CIPET CIPET is an ISO 9001:2008 QMS, NABL, ISO/IEC 17020 accredited premier national Institution devoted to Academic, Technology Support & Research (ATR) activities for the growth of Plastics & allied industries in the country. CIPET operates on hub & spokes model with 22 locations spread across the length & breadth of the country and all the CIPET centres have state of art infrastructural facilities in the areas of Design, CAD/CAM/CAE, Tooling & Mould Manufacturing, Plastics processing, Testing and Quality control to cater to the needs of plastics & allied industries in the country.

PLASTICS & RUBBER INSTITUTE OF SRI LANKA – PRISL
The Plastics & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) is the national professional body established for members, around 400 of whom are in the business of plastics and rubber. The PRISL has an important role in establishing sound ethical guidelines to the industry, through its professional grades of membership, and for maintaining high standards of education and professional competence in the science, engineering and technology of plastics and rubber. It acts as the focal point and center for networking for members and assist in promoting the interests of its members through regular technical meetings, seminars and conferences and visits to manufacturing plants and industrial sites, etc

The International Plastics Exhibitions in SRI LANKA and KENYA created success waves in the respective countries. The encouraging feedback and the interest of the exhibitors are the major reasons for the second edition of the Plastics exhibitions in both the countries. EFIPl will soon organize International Plastics Exhibitions in other developing countries also.
