Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest city, hosts a major industrial cluster with 23,000+ MSMEs and 500 medium & large units. The 600 foundries include 450 operational units, with 70% using coke-based cupolas and the rest using induction and pit furnaces. Some also utilize natural gas-fired furnaces. Key industrial areas include Naroda, Odhav, Vatva, Tribhuvan, and Rakhial. These foundries produce 1,770 tonnes of castings daily, contributing 6% of India’s total output, primarily for textile machinery (50%), pumps & valves (20%), agricultural machinery (10%), and sanitary equipment (10%), employing 30,000 people.
